Home Program Guide Music Saturday Coffee and the Form Guide

Robbie Dewar

Hi, I’m Robbie Dewar and I present ‘Coffee and the Form Guide’ every Saturday morning from 6.45am until 8.00am.

Chris Blackwell, who does our galloping segment said to me one day "Most people at that time of the morning are having a coffee and reading the form guide” and this seemed like a pretty good name for the show. Sho that is what we started with and it has since evolved from a 20 minute segment to 75 minute show that encompasses the three racing codes and comprises four segments.

Harness News is at 6.45a.m.; Tony Lopes joins us at 7.00 a.m. talking greyhounds; then at 7.20 a.m. Chris Blackwell joins us to look at the thoroughbred world of galloping and we finish off with a feature interview at 7.40a.m.

If you are one of the many people within our listening area who are interested in harness and greyhound racing then tuning in to ‘Coffee and the Form Guide’ is an excellent way to find out what's happening within these sports.

For more information, please give me a call at the station on Saturday mornings on 9398 3100.

On a more personal note, I became involved in harness racing via a desire to be a race-caller. In May 1992 I became the Wanneroo trial caller and in December that year I started writing trots for the Wanneroo Times, Goodform and Westrot.  Initially about Wanneroo harness racing personalities and gradually that evolved into general harness racing news. In late 1993 I was approached to find someone to write harness racing for a paper called ‘Weekend Community’ that was to come out for the lower reaches of ‘Heritage Country.’

The ‘Weekend Community’ was a stable mate of the ‘Comment News' and the column was taken over by that paper in April 1994.My articles have appeared in Community Newspaper publications ever since. In addition I facilitate the full results service that appears in the West and Sunday Times when required and in the past I have worked for Racing Radio and country radio station 6GS in Wagin. Whilst my involvement is mainly at the hobby level I also facilitate Gloucester Park trial results, am the assistant announcer at Byford trials; and call pony trots at Gloucester Park.  As of July 4 2007 I will be doing a WA harness racing segment for Melton community Radio in Melbourne. Since October 2012 I also write for the Mandurah Coastal Times, Perth Now and Northdry Harness Racing Club Wesbsets,

‘Coffee and the Form Guide’ is proudly sponsored by WA TAB Sportsbet.
